Carpe Diem, El Kabeir, International Star Arrive for Derby 141; Baffert's Luminance, Maybellene Likely Out Of Oaks Consideration

Zayat Stables’ El Kabeir and WinStar Farm and Stonestreet Stables’ Carpe Diemarrived at Churchill Downs early this morning for Saturday’s $2 million Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (GI). Arriving shortly after 10 o’clock from the nearby Trackside training center was Ken and Sarah Ramsey’s International Star, who took up residence in Barn 27.
The Temple City colt had jetted in from his Southern California headquarters Sunday and bedded down at Barn 45 with his groom, Daniel Marquez, and exercise rider, Tony Rubalcaba, along to be sure all was well. Marquez reported that his charge had shipped very well. “He’s a happy horse,” he said.
